Keeping Your Dog Busy, Avoiding Boredom - When you leave your dogs home alone, they will more than likely become bored. This can lead to different behavioral problems like digging, barking or trying to escape. Keeping your dog busy by stimulating their mind with interactive toys is a great solution to avoiding this. I have found that one of the best toys for dogs home alone is the Kong. Stuffing a couple of Kong toys with different types of treats can keep a dog busy while you are gone. A great trick for long lasting Kong “stuffing” is to plug the small hole in the bottom, fill it with organic, unseasoned beef broth and freeze it.
Physical maintenance. As much as it is important for humans, exercise is also vital in keeping your dog fit. Toy Poodles are active little dogs who need a daily walk - be it around the block or in the park nearest to you. Behavior problem such as chewing, digging and urine marking inside the house can be avoided with daily as well as playing ball and fetch. But remember not to over exercise your dog, allow exercise that is only appropriate for your dogs age and breed.
Often dogs that are oriented to the water need to have "fetch" toys that will float. Here again, a stick is the one most often used and also the most deadly. It is far better to use a regular "bumper" type of toy. If you dont want to spend the money, especially since water toys can often be lost, you can make a much cheaper version. This version is a closed plastic bottle partially filled with water, (to give it enough weight to throw) with a rope tied around the neck. Give a good swing with the rope and you can sail this toy quite a distance out into the water. The toy has much the same action as a bumper toy and is very cheap to make.
